You Me At Six

You Me At Six: (From Left to Right) Chris Miller, Max Helyer, Josh Franceschi, Dan Flint and Matt Barnes

Support Bands: We The Kings and Forever The Sickest Kids.

I had been waiting many a month for this event on the 20th March 2010 at Brixton Academy and it did not disappoint!
The support bands were absolutely amazing! The crowd loved them! They got everyone full of energy and ready for You Me At Six. I was, I will admit, unsure of the support bands when I first saw them. This could be of course because I am impatient! However they were absolutely amazing and now I have two new favourite bands! We The Kings did an amazing cover of 'The Middle' by 'Jimmy Eat World' and Forever The Sickest Kids created such an amazing atmosphere!
Finally You Me At Six came on stage and I don't think I have ever heard so much screaming! They were straight in with 'Safer To Hate her'. They played amazingly well! It was also my first concert and a very good one at that! They played 'The Truth Is A Terrible Thing' followed by a favourite of everyone 'Kiss And Tell'. Then the band left the stage. Just left us, left the guitars and equipment.
Then something amazing happened! Sirens started going, the very familiar beginning of 'The Consequence'! Again the crowd started to scream. Then the black curtains went and revealed raised rants that went behind the drums, the drums being raised above everyone else. As Josh Franceschi sung another familiar figure appeared on the stage, again more screaming ensued! It was non over than Sean Smith lead vocalist of The Blackout! It was amazing!
After this they played several other songs, old and new including 'Liquid Confidence' dedicated to Max Helyer (Guitarist) for his Birthday. Then after the band left the stage the crowd chanted their name. Chris Miller (Guitarist) and Josh Franceschi (Lead Vocals) came back on stage just themselves with Chris and his guitar. He sat down and they started to play 'Always Attract' sending the crowd crazy, everyone sung loud. Then Josh's sister Elissa came on stage and started to sing along as on 'Take off your Colours'. It was the most amazing thing ever! Then came 'Save It For The Bedroom' and 'Underdog' he was also joined by Sean and Travis (Lead Vocals for We The Kings) during 'Save It for The Bedroom'. Towards the end silver paper/glitter/confetti fell from the ceiling. Everyone was trying to catch on but it was incredibly difficult, as I found out for myself!
It was the most amazing thing I have seen in my life and can't wait till I can see them again!

Only By The Night

Fourth studio album by Kings Of Leon. It has on it the hit songs 'Use Somebody' and 'Sex On Fire'.
This album is a lot different from all their old stuff, mostly because you can understand better what they're saying! They are still the same great band though. They have also, dare I say it, improved slightly. They have always been a very talented band but as they have gone through their albums, as most band, you can hear the improvement. Along with the new album also came new haircuts! Caleb Followill now has short hair! The kings have become really big in England now with this new album and was number one in the UK album charts.
Only by the Night received a nomination for Best Rock Album at the 51st Grammy Awards with the single "Sex on Fire" receiving two nominations for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal and Best Rock Song. At the 52nd Grammy Awards the song Use Somebody was nominated for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Rock Song and Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal. (Thank you Wikipedia! :D)
Most the songs have a very laid back feel to them and I very rarely get tired of listening to them! My personal favorite on the album is 'Notion'. It is definitely a wise investment in this album. What I love about this album is that with some bands all the songs are either really happy all the time or just depressing, Kings Of Leon seem to hit the right sort of thing with OBTN. None are particularly depressing but then they aren't overwhelmingly happy like Disney. So the perfect mix that pretty much everyone enjoys. I've only met two people who don't like them much but that was after I had insulted their favorite band, The Jonas Brothers...
So yeah buy it definitely it'll be worth your money.

PS: I will get better at this! Give me time :) Thank you

The Black Parade

The Third Album of American Rock band My Chemical Roamce released in 2006. It tells the story of 'The Patient' who dies and it looks over his life and death. It has the songs 'Welcome To The Black Parade', 'Famous Last Words' and 'Teenagers' on it. It is very different from their previous albums but it was a fresh start for the band especially Mikey and Gerard Way. So it was helping them to get over whatever happened. I absolutly love them but I know that people have critised them a lot because people call them "emo" which they are not, the majority of people who listen to them are but the band themselves are not. After a girl who was a fan of My Chemical Romance killed herself they recieved a lot of bad press from the mail which was rediculous.
But back to the album. It was the first one with Bob Bryar in who replaced the old drummer. It is an amazing rock album that is completly different to all their other stuff but it shows how they can change completly but still be as good, if not better, than they were before. This shows how talented they are because their are few bands that can make such a big change but still keep all their fans.
Now onto the vocals. Wonderful. They change from song to song. That may not make sense but Gerard Way (Lead Vocals) puts so much emotion into songs such as 'I don't love you' and 'Cancer' which really make them I feel. They are the sort of songs that just couldn't be sung in the same way as the other songs.
So I think this is the full ***** 5 stars!

A Fever You Can't Sweat Out

So we'll start with a bit of Panic! At The Disco.
They released 'A Fever You Can't Sweat Out' in 2005. I personally love it! It's a mixture of a techno sort of thing with rock or 'Alternative' as people might call it. Brendon Urie (Lead Singer) has such a wide range of vocals that never cease to amaze me! I can't even go as high as him and I'm a girl!
They are considered to be an "emo" band but that's a load of rubbish! 'A Fever You Can't Sweat Out' was part of the circus tour where they actually had people from the circus performing on stage with them. I never went to any of them as I was 1) too young and 2) Didn't really know about them at the time. But I would have loved to see them! And the videos on Youtube back up quite how truely amazing they are live. They were only very young when they released this too, about 18 or 19. On the album is the hit 'I Write Sins Not Tragedies' which won an MTV 'Music Video Of The Year Award' and Ryan Ross (Guitarist and lyrics) and Brendon Urie were both suffering from Flu when they recorded it :( poor Ryan and Brendon.
Err...Sorry got distracted!
Anyway it is an amazing album and out of 5 stars I would give it a 4 out of 5!

Hey!

Ok so this is my new blog. My third!
The point of this blog is to review new CD's, gigs, bands and maybe post a few interviews that I'll steal from Kerrang! Then of course pictures of the bands and even gig lists that are going on with them so if you like then you can go buy tickets and stuff. I'm just gonna review all the CD's I have so some of them are quite old but I don't care!
So enjoy reading and stuff.
